We've had a crazy couple nights of basketball with some big upsets and big performances from a plethora of players. We hope you jumped on some of our favorite plays over the past few nights such as Jonas Valanciunas and Bennedict Mathurin. But, enough of the past. Let's jump to today's slate of games on this fine Sunday. Due to technical difficulties, we weren't able to get another podcast episode out today, but we still wanted to provide you guys with some of our favorite plays. We're going to keep this one short and sweet!
WASHINGTON WIZARDS vs. CLEVELAND CAVALIERS
(CLE -3.5 | o/u 217)
F/C: Jarrett Allen (DK: $6,600; FD: $7,100)
Averaged almost 20 and 12 against WAS last season and a WAS defense that allowed 2nd most PTS to opposing centers last year.
F/C: Kristaps Porzingis (DK: $7,600; FD: $7,900)
Not too expensive, but not too cheap either. Good value here and should be a problem for Allen since he's a more versatile center.
F: Deni Avdija (DK: $3,900; FD: $4,300)
Very, very cheap for a guy who just put up almost 30 fantasy points. Had over 20 fantasy points in 2/4 games against CLE last year.
No-Brainer Plays:
Both players' price drops make no sense. Way too cheap for two stars.
- G: Bradley Beal (DK: $8,300; FD: $8,200)
- G: Donovan Mitchell (DK: $8,600; FD: $8,500)
UTAH JAZZ vs. NEW ORLEANS PELICANS
(NOP -9 | o/u 231)
F/C: Jarred Vanderbilt (DK: $4,800; FD: $5,800)
Insane value here for a guy averaging almost 30+ fantasy points so far. Rebound machine as well.
F: Lauri Markkanen (DK: $6,300; FD: $7,300)
Is there much to discuss here? Until he lets us down, why not ride the hot hand?
F/C: Zion Williamson (DK: $8,800; FD: $8,800)
A more expensive option, but still not expensive enough. With a 31.6% usage rate through two games thus far, this is not one that requires too much thinking.
MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES vs. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
(MIN -9 | o/u 226.5)
G/F: Anthony Edwards (DK: $7,800; FD: $7,500)
Too cheap for a guy with a 27.2% usage rate so far. He's clearly a focal point of this T-Wolves offense.
F: Jaden McDaniels (DK: $5,500; FD: $5,200)
McDaniels might have the best matchup on the board. He's already played OKC once and put up 40+ fantasy points. He's still too cheap.
G: Josh Giddey (DK: $7,400; FD: $6,800)
He's facing a MIN defense that was bad against assists and rebounds to both guard spots last season, so whether he is the true PG or SG, that matchup is there for him to do what he does best.
G/F: Lu Dort (DK: $5,500; FD: $5,100)
MIN was top 5 in PTS, 3PM, and AST given up to opposing SFs last season. Not much else needed to persuade you.
No-Brainer Play:
- C: Rudy Gobert (DK: $9,000; FD: $8,900)
- G: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (DK: $8,700; FD: $9,600)
SACRAMENTO KINGS vs. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
(GSW -10 | o/u 231.5)
G: Klay Thompson (DK: $6,100; FD: $6,800)
The matchup is there and his minutes restriction is slowly getting lifted. So much value for that price against a SAC defense that was 1st in PTS and 3rd in 3PM given up to SGs last year.
C: Kevon Looney (DK: $4,600; FD: $4,500) OR C: James Wiseman (DK: $4,500; FD: $5,000)
It has become a share between Looney and Wiseman recently for those center minutes. This one is a toss-up. SAC was not good against centers last year. You could play either of them, especially for those prices.
F: Harrison Barnes (DK: $5,200; FD: $5,300)
There is a lot of value here with Harrison Barnes. I know it's a little shakier now with Keegan Murray back, but for this price AND he's facing one of his former teams? I'll take a flyer on him.
PHOENIX SUNS vs. LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS
(PHX -1 | o/u 219)
G: Damion Lee (DK: $4,300; FD: $3,900)
It's looking like Cam Johnson could be sitting this game out, which means Lee is the beneficiary. He ended up playing 31 MIN last game when he went down and he's just too cheap to not play. Even if Johnson plays, he's not a bad cheap play.
G/F: Mikal Bridges (DK: $5,600; FD: $5,400)
Another one that lies on if Cam Johnson plays or not. If he is out, Mikal will spend most of the game at that PF spot most likely which is LAC's worst position defensively. Even if Johnson plays, Mikal is still too cheap to avoid.
G: John Wall (DK: $5,100; FD: $5,700)
Still too cheap for how good he looked in game one. He's fresh off a rest night, he should be ready to go.
C: Ivica Zubac (DK: $5,700; FD: $7,000)
A lot more expensive on FD, but the value is especially there on DK. He's looking good through two games, so ride the hot hand.
No-Brainer Play:
- G: Devin Booker (DK: $9,100; FD: $8,300)
